Email delivery validation
With the ever-increasing number of email Phishing scams discussed in the last article and the processes companies are putting in place to filter those out, how do you ensure legitimate emails sent by you and your staff arrive at the inbox of their intended recipients? Regularly, email server spam filters will flag legitimate email as spam and never deliver them to the intended recipient. In most cases this is preventable with the correct email security and verification settings. To access these settings login to the control panel for your domain registrar. If you are unfamiliar with your domain registration settings, or how to access them please note that incorrect changes made here can cause your email, website and other services to not function.

Once logged into your domain registration check that the following records are present in the DNS settings:
SPF (Sender Policy Framework) – Used by recipient email servers to verify emails come from an email server tied to the senders Domain.
DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Email) – A digital signature added to email messages that verifies the message was not modified while in transit.
DMARC (Domain-Based Message and Reporting Conformance) – Provides the process for what happens to an email if it fails the SPF or DKIM validations.
